This home in Chevy Chase, Maryland had existing wood siding that had extreme water damage. The homeowner realized that repairs and maintenance can be very costly and will not improve the curb appeal of the home.
The damaged areas required immediate attention. Hardiesiding was the perfect choice to maintain the look of wood siding without the maintenance. They wanted a siding contractor that was experienced with James Hardie siding. As an Elite Preferred Siding Contractor with James Hardie, they knew that Custom Concepts Construction, Inc. was the right contractor for the project. All of the existing wood siding was removed. The existing house sheathing was inspected prior to the installation of the new siding. After plywood repairs were made, we installed Hardie House Wrap to create a thermal envelope on the exterior of the home. James Hardie wall trim was then installed for the corner and window details.The window trim detail is a 4" picture frame around the perimeter of the windows. All of the trim is James Hardie Arctic White. The main siding product installed is James Hardie Lap Siding, also known as Hardieplank. The Hardieplank selected has a smooth finish with a 7" siding exposure. In the gables, the client selected to use James Hardie board & batten design as an accent. This detail added architectural appeal without a significant increase in project cost. The siding color selected for this project is James Hardie's Boothbay Blue. All of Hardie siding products are made of fiber cement which is extremely durable and very low maintenance.
